Job Seeker Visa Portugal- Canaccess Immigration

Portugal has introduced a visa for job seekers. This visa was introduced to compensate for the
labor shortage and is issued by Portuguese consulates abroad. In connection with a valid
residence permit under a valid employment contract after entry, the validity of the visa will be
extended by 120 days and further extended by 60 days.

About Program

This Visa program offers the privilege of applying for a residence permit after an employment
relationship has been established and standardized during this period. There are also some
conditions for applying for this visa, which are also listed below:
• Visas will only be approved if workers are not subject to entry restrictions of that country
or any other member state of the European Union (EU).
• Workers are also obliged to have a return ticket to their home country (if they cannot find
a job) and economic means, the so-called means of livelihood.
• Applicants can only search for Portuguese vacancies and not for vacancies in other
Schengen countries.
• Job seeker visa holders are only allowed to enter the Portuguese territory once and
therefore cannot travel abroad during the first 120 days or the remaining 60 days if an
extension is requested.
• Extensions will be granted if the candidate does not sign the employment contract within
the first available period.
• Visa holders are eligible to invite family members as part of a family reunion after
obtaining work and residence permits in the country.
• The Portuguese government is simplifying the process of issuing a taxpayer identification
number (NIF) that is automatically assigned when you register for social security and
apply for a public health access number known as an NSS number.
• This visa program provides a residence permit if the immigrant finds a job and
establishes good working relations within the prescribed time limit.
• Immigrants have to maintain sufficient funds, and arrange all the requirements to get the
visa.  The visa holder is allowed to invite their family member after getting the residence
permit in the country.

New Job Opportunities in Portugal

The Conselan Company, owned by Jose Freitas, is looking for workers as the 130 required
positions remain vacant and, as the owner pointed out, needs to recruit foreigners to fill these
positions. Like Conselan, the country has a high demand for labor that is met by regular
immigration because immigrants look for work here and are satisfied with the conditions offered
by Portuguese society. The country is going an ongoing skills shortage, according to a WTTC
report, and thus it is targeting to create about 193,000 jobs over the next 10 years. Great
opportunity to live and work in Portugal!
